Image
Images from our final presentation: Feedback received from client and lectures: - Loved watching the animation and listening to it  - lots of smiles during the song - music embodies the spirit and project - feeling overwhelmed “You have got it” - “you’ve understood what this is about from the    beginning to the end” - practical - tidy, quality, beautiful - immersive space - well thought of and the look is fabulous - could definitely be executed further down the track as its is obviously more of a conceptual approach to our issue. - website - smart, tidy, professional - video looks so cool - coherent across all aspects - change the cover of the songbook to have a kingfisher - highly polished, fit in any classroom - We are so proud of the work produced and the quality exceeded all expectations which was really pleasing to hear - big pat on the pack for everyone in our super-group team.  Group Response: Persona...

Libby and I set up a meeting with Oliver Blair (technician for spatial design) and talked to him about how we could execute our idea. He was excited by the concept and having kids of his own thought it would definitely be a successful way to help children learn. He didn't see any issues with how we would be able to create the space as every thing was definitely possible, however he said we should try and talk to one of the guys at the toy store as they know more about it then he does. Therefore Libby and I visited the toy store and talked to one of the guys there for a wee while about our idea. He said it was definitely possible and the only obstacle would be finding the money to fund the project as we would be working with high tech gear that is not cheap. He said the tricaster would be the most important element as this is the machine that overlays different inputs onto each other in a live situation (such as the news how text or weather patterns can be placed over whoever is s...

Final Site locations

Image
After our visit we took into account the positive and negatives of the sites we proposed and decided on the locations of lower Cuba Street (outside cotton on) and the waterfront (behind Te Papa). We believe these two sites during summer school holidays, events such as matariki, or even just on a weekend would provide the right demographic and consistent foot traffic in order for the space to succeed. After

Site Analysis and visit

During the weekend I wondering into the city with Libby from the logistics team to do some demographic research and a site analysis on the proposed sites for the project. Our demographic findings were as follows... Cuba Street Upper Cuba street has a demographic trend towards a population 18 years and older. As you head towards lower Cuba street and approach the bucket fountain, playground, cafe’s and more youthful chainstores, more children under 10 are present.  The area is fairly sheltered from wind by surrounding buildings. Sun reaches the middle of the street however shop canopies provide shade either side of the street.  Mid-day on a Saturday there is a consistent flow of steady to moderate foot traffic with on average 50 people walking past every minute This site’s condition would be ideal for our space due to the weather conditions and foot traffic, there were also a few electricity outlets we would be able to ask the council to use. Waterfront ...

Our section of the super group presentation, spoken on behalf of our team by Ellie Kia Ora I’m Ellie and our team consists of myself Brittany and Karlos. Change slide Our team is focussing on the initial experience of Jenny’s songs by the public through an immersive experience. Through our research we understand that not all children have the same methods of learning and information retainment. Therefore we decided to take a unique fun approach to this issue by designing an environment that caters to multidimensional learning, engaging visual, aural, kinaesthetic and reading/writing styles of learning. Pitching our idea to teachers the feedback we received was very positive and they believed that the interactiveness of the project would be really engaging for children and make it feel less like learning and more like play. This will be the public’s first encounter of the songs and a way to raise awareness and encourage the use of maori language and culture among New Zea...
